2 Years Old!

Hi Connor, this is Daddy. :)

You are two years old today. I am not sure it is possible to tell you how I feel about you, but I am going to try.

There is nothing in this world to me that is more important and more special than you. You and Ann are my entire life. I know for sure that I would do anything for you to protect you and help you grow up to be the wonderful happy person I know you can be. Thank you for coming into my life.

You have given us a few scares in your two years. You were born early, so the first month you were alive, you were in the hospital. Also, recently, we got very worried because you seemed to be talking less than before. But, you seem to be very resilient, and have started to pick those words back up again. Never lose your drive, and never let anyone or anything determine who you are. You can be whoever you want to be. Well, perhaps we won't be signing with the NBA just yet, but there are plenty of opportunities for you. I promise that we will do whatever we can to take care of you, no matter what happens.

Today, Mama and Daddy are both taking off work, so we can spend the whole day with you and have lots of fun. I think the Extreme Fun Center is in your future today, and perhaps another surprise later as well!

I love you so much, my sweet baby, that it hurts sometimes. Have a wonderful birthday.

We have a wonderful playground near our house. This playground has some of his favorite activities, including picking up sticks, picking up rocks, picking up wood chips, going on the swings, and using the slide. When my parents were in town last week, we went there several times, and yesterday we went there with Connor's little buddy Brandon and their family. We always have a wonderful time. We have gone there a lot lately, because the weather has been so great, and even though it is about to get hotter, we will probably keep going during the summer too.

To Connor From Daddy

Connor, you are my son, and I want you to know how much I love you. I look at you every day and know that you are my whole life.

No matter what we are doing, the most important thing to me is to be with you. When I pick you up and look into your eyes, I feel a happiness like no other. You are growing up and getting bigger. Very soon you will be an older cousin. One day you will go to school and become an adult before I know it, but you'll always be my baby son.

I love you,

Connor loves stickers. He loves pull them up from the sticker books , stick them somewhere, and pull them up again. He put them on his hands, his shirt, and face over and over again until the stickers are no longer sticky. Here are a couple of pictures of our little boy.

Thank You

Today Connor woke up and handed me something. I told him "Xie Xie" (Thank you in Chinese). I have been trying to teach him to say thank you when he receives stuff. This morning, I heard for the first time "Xie Xie" after I said it. From my baby boy Connor. It was very clearly pronounced. Then after that, he told me he wanted to drink water. He's learning more and more words. Still single sound at a time. But there is my baby boy, telling me "Xie Xie"!!

On the Walking Thing

Connor was a late walker. Before Thanksgiving 2010, his choice of moving around is crawling. There are times we went to play ground where other kids younger and smaller than he was walked around him and there was Connor still crawling.

The week before Thanksgiving, one night, we were playing in our living room as usual. I put Connor down 3 steps in front of his Daddy. I put him feet down first. He normally would just sit down and crawl to Daddy. But that time, he took three steps and got to Daddy's hands. We couldn't believe it. Something clicked. Thanksgiving, we went to Ozark. He started walking more and more in that week's time. When we came back from Thanksgiving, he walks to places when he could. He'd walk from one place where he could hold on to something to the next.

Dec 2010, Connor got better and better at walking. He started off liking to raise his hands in the air to balance himself. Beginning of 2011, his hands comes down more and more.

Now he's a good little walker. He can claim. He walks everywhere.

Here is my little boy. Walking!

Connor is 15 months old now. He can not quite walk or talk yet. However, he can hold on to things and walk around really well and he can say a few words "dada, mama, nana, gaga, mow-mow and coco" We met a couple of kids (a boy and a girl who are twins) at dim sum. They are 16 months old. Connor liked playing with them.

We went for his 15 month check up last week. He weights 26 lbs 10 oz (78%), 30 inches (18%), and 47.6cm head circ (63)%.

Today's day light savings time ending. Connor woke up early. He took 3 naps today. It's 8pm now and he's still napping. It may be a long night for mama and dada.

Here is a picture of connor playing on dada's stomach. Dada was breathing in and out to make his stomach go up and down. Connor was laughing hard and enjoyed playing with dada.
